Located in the heart of San Antonio, La Fonda On Main is a vibrant Mexican and Latin American restaurant that masterfully blends traditional flavors with a contemporary twist. Guests consistently rave about the warmth and charm of the setting, whether indoors or seated under the open sky, making it an ideal spot for brunch, casual dining, or festive group gatherings.
The cuisine is nothing short of spectacular. Standout dishes like Tacos de Pescado and Arrachera Al Guajillo showcase expertly grilled meats seasoned to perfection, offering smoky char and rich depth. The Mole Xiqueño Enchiladas and Lobster and Shrimp Enchiladas present layers of complex flavors, while the refreshing Ceviche and zesty Diablitos provide an invigorating contrast of textures and tastes. For those seeking a hearty brunch, the classic Huevos Rancheros come with just the right hint of spice to awaken the palate.
In addition to these favorites, the family-style options like the Fajita Feast and Enchiladas Family Meal offer generous portions perfect for sharing, complete with all the beloved accompaniments — from fluffy rice and refried beans to house-made salsas and freshly warmed tortillas. These takeout meals are thoughtfully designed to bring the festive spirit of La Fonda’s kitchen into your home.
No meal here is complete without a dip into their indulgent desserts. The Whole Sweet Potato Cheesecake and Praline Housemade Mexican Candy with candied pecans and caramel provide a perfect balance of sweetness and texture, while the Vanilla Flan and Churros with Cajeta and Honey deliver classic Mexican comfort with each bite. Patrons often highlight the rich, warm chocolate cake crowned with chocolate drizzle, pecans, and cinnamon-infused vanilla bean ice cream as a divine finale.
La Fonda’s bar is equally impressive, offering a curated selection of cocktails to complement every dish. Their handcrafted margaritas, especially the fresh lime-infused jalapeño margarita, are a crowd favorite — bold, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. For home enjoyment, their “Bar To Go” options like the Cucumber Jalapeno Margarita and Top Shelf Lalo Margarita allow you to take a taste of San Antonio’s spirited nightlife right to your doorstep.

It’s an experience that combines authentic Mexican culinary artistry with an inviting ambiance that feels both timeless and vibrant — a true gem in San Antonio’s dining scene.
The food is AMAZING. I ordered a horchata with alcohol, and boy did it hit. For a small drink, it packed a punch, and tasted wonderful. The food was filling. I would absolutely come back and recommend to anyone who visits San Antonio.
I absolutely love this restaurant for group gatherings and drinks on their fantastic patio. The patio is big, has multiple levels, a big tree in the middle with lights strung throughout it. Makes the setting quite fun! Good happy hour, fantastic margaritas made with fresh lime juice. I love their jalapeño margarita. My friends and I frequent this patio!
A warm, inviting ambiance paired with timeless elegance. Friendly, attentive and polite staff. Elisa made us feel welcome and genuinely took care of us during our visit. Spacious seating either indoors or in the beautiful courtyard centred by a shade tree. The dishes are prepared with love as they are filling yet plated with eye appeal. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious to include the Nopalito salad, Guacamole, Bistek tacos and Caldo. The warm chocolate cake was a lovely finish shared by our party along with excellent coffee. Fair pricing for such an incredible venue along with easy parking alongside the restaurant. A true pleasure during our visit to San Antonio.
Family and I had dinner here tonight while visiting San Antonio. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. I had the Fajita Enchiladas. My wife had the Pollo Milanesa. My daughter had the chicken nachos and my son had the Tex-Mex deluxe. They loved their dishes as well! Our waitress Daisy was very attentive and did a great job! Highly recommend this place!
What an amazing experience. Beautifully restored building with outdoor seating as well. The food is excellently seasoned with the right hint of spice and char from the wood grill. My server Cesar R couldn’t have been kinder or more attentive to recommending different food selections. The warm chocolate cake with chocolate drizzle, pecans and vanilla bean ice cream with a hint of cinnamon is a must.
Another amazing experience...Wow! Spinach salad with avocado and mango at a Mexican restaurant blew my mind! It's not often that one can get healthy greens like spinach at a Mexican restaurant! Impressive! The queso and salsa were Amazing, and the rice and beans were so delicious as well. My fajitas were great, I just needed a bit more meat, which was accommodated, and the enchilada verde was a bit tart for me, but was still good. Overall, another beautiful and really tasty experience.
We loved the food! I had the shrimp and lobster enchiladas, they were delicious! They accomodated vegan very well for our party. Great service and drinks. I recommend the jasmine & ginger margarita!
Stopped here for dinner and it exceeded our expectations. Art (our waiter) was very inventive and well spoken. I recommended the entere in photo! Flan was good but churros were amazing!! 10/10
